Articles by Judah Yarberry

Judah Yarberry is a 9 year old in Hilo, Hawaii. Since he was 6 years old he has been traveling with his mother to East Africa where she does relief work with RMF. Judah raises money for these trips by selling plants and greeting cards at his mother’s clinic, and doing yard service and other chores for friends, neighbors and supporters. He often collects and takes school supplies, toys, and other needed items to children in Uganda and Kenya. His favorite part about his travels is meeting and playing with other children, and being around all the animals of Africa (he wants to be a wildlife conservationist when he grows up). When in the US, he shares these trips through slide presentations for local schools.

The last few days have been spent organizing and giving out the school supplies. Charles, Joan, and Susan went with me to give out the supplies and toys in Village 1 (the camp has different villages in it). We walked from house to house (really, they were mud huts and old UNHCR tents), through the corn and other crop fields. We saw an ibis standing on the road, and our guide said there were black mambas in between the cornstalks: that made us all scream!

When we came back to Maga Maga (where the acupuncture training was), I gave things to my soccer buddies. It was a free-for-all because they were so excited they were asking for seconds, and crowding me. Finally Beth had to pull me out and take me to the matatu.

The Planets psp Last week, we were in Tororo. I really enjoyed seeing my friends, the neighborhood kids around Mama Kevina school. When we walked toward the school, all the kids who remembered me from last year came running, saying “Jude, Jude!” They call me Jude, which is the name of their primary school, the St. Jude Primary school.

They took me over to their village, and showed me a kitten that I had gotten last year. It is pretty big now. We went into the soccer field, and it was nearly night, but the good thing about that is that there were a lot of frogs, and we caught a bunch of them.

I’m leaving tomorrow and I’m very nervous and excited.  I’m nervous because planes sometimes give me air sickness, and I’m excited because it will be my fourth time going to Africa, and going to Africa is very fun!  I’m looking forward to seeing my cat and chicken at the Mama Kevina school, and I’m really excited about seeing if I can catch any more crickets.  Of course I’m also looking forward to seeing Patrick and David at the Mama Kevina school, who were my “kid-sitters”  before.  I hope to play soccer with the kids that live near the school, but I’m not excited to have to do all my school work on the trip!

Semi-Pro buy Youth Without Youth movie download One trip I found chameleons, another time I found a tortoise, and I’ve seen all kinds of big and little animals when I’m there.  I’ve gotten a cat, a chicken, and so I always look forward to all the animals of Africa.

The refugees at Kiryadongo Settlement Camp are the people I’m going to give the toys, pencil sharpeners, pencils, and other school supplies to.  I got alot of clothes from my classsmates at Connections Public Charter School that I will give to the Africans because they might only have one pair of clothes, and those may have rips in them.  I want to give them to the kids that live near Mama Kevina school, who have been taking care of my chicken and my cat while I’ve been away. This year we are thinking of doing a presentation at the Hilo Public Library when we get back.  It will be all about the projects we are working on in Kenya and Uganda.

Corky Romano divx Deep Blue Sea rip I am Judah, and I travel to Uganda and Kenya in Africa. I raise money for doing this by selling plants, selling postcards, and doing service for people. I usually work on Fridays because I go to Connections Public Charter School and so I have Fridays off. On my next trip I’m going to bring the children I know near Mama Kevina School toothpaste, toothbrushes, toys and pencils. I ordered these with my aunt. I am also collecting used clothes at school for my friends in Africa.

Snow White: A Tale of Terror the movie

My experiences in Africa were going to Mama Kevina school and playing with the kids that lived in that area, and the kids that go to that school. Their main sport is soccer, and they also like to use slingshots to hit things (not people!). The kids I play with don’t speak English, but we use hand gestures and pointing signals to talk to each other. The kids there are basically the same as my friends in Hawaii except they love soccer so much! They only have a few sets of clothes and not very many toys, so they have to make their own toys, and they make up games like playing jacks with rocks, or pushing tires with a stick. Sometimes they even have to make their own soccer balls by tying a lot of plastic bags in a ball. What I’ve learned by going there is that you can make up your own games, you don’t have to play games that someone else made for you. When I get back from my trips, I give slide shows to show people what it is like there.
