RMF and Nuestra Clinica co-hosted an open house and health fair. We provided free back-to-school clothes and supplies, BMI and blood pressure screenings by Health Net, pharmacy information, balloons, music, and a fitness demonstration. It was attended by over 60 people from the community around Boyle Heights in Los Angeles, CA.

Amidst the 90+ degree heat today, we held our first Health Fair at Nuestra Clinica in the East Los Angeles community of Boyle Heights.
We had a wonderful turn out for the event. Health Net, provided blood pressure screenings as well as BMI testing- which provide the opportunity to refer women to our adult health and fitness classes which began last week.
The children participated in fitness demonstrations, the chance to help create a mural for the clinic and all left with a brand new back pack filled with school supplies.
A Perfect Day move Mothers poured through the “gently used” clothing which had been meticulously organized by our “Fox Gives” volunteers prior to the event, and there was a sense of camaraderie amongst them in these hard times.
It was a celebration of the 2nd Anniversary of Nuestra Clinica coupled with the induction of Real Medicine’s partnership, providing services that treat the “whole person”.
Our children’s workshops in art, yoga, health & fitness and reading have been a great success, and we are looking forward to our upcoming prenatal fitness classes beginning next Tuesday. 98% of the mother’s whose children participate in our programs are pregnant, and none have access to Lamaze classes or fitness classes. 
Our goal is to be able to provide both, as well as other women’s health programs.
All in all it was yet another long, but extremely fulfilling day with Real Medicine! I cannot express my gratitude enough to all of the team members who took time out on a Sunday afternoon to help make this day a great success
